This version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software is compatible with the adapters listed below. Note that newer features provided in this software release are generally not supported for older, legacy adapters.

This version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software runs on Microsoft Windows* 7, Windows* 8, and Windows* 8.1.
This release of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software, with the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 adapter, supports the 802.11ac draft specification.
This release of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software includes support for Intel® Centrino® Wireless Bluetooth® High Speed Protocol. Bluetooth High Speed Protocol supports theoretical data transfer speeds of up to 24 Mbit/s, using the Bluetooth link for negotiation and establishment and 802.11 link for the high data rate traffic.
This release of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software includes the Intel® My WiFi Technology application. The Intel® My WiFi Technology application uses your Intel wireless WiFi adapter to connect to other devices with Wi-Fi Direct*. You can connect up to eight other devices to your laptop computer, all while maintaining your WiFi wireless connection to the Internet. You can choose to install the Intel® My WiFi Technology application at the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software Installer screen. See Known Issues and Limitations in this document for related information.
To access user documentation, load the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software CD. Click View User Guide on the Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Installer screen.
When you run the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Installer program, it replaces all previous versions of 13.x, 14.x, and 15.x of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility with the current version. If you have a version previous to 13.0, you should remove the old version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility before installing this version. A client disassociates upon moving from hibernation mode when the following conditions are met:
The recommendation is to set the system hibernate power option to “Never” when the computer is on AC power.
Intel recommends using security with your WiFi network. The 802.11n specification indicates that a compliant adapter can achieve transfer rates greater than 54 Mbps on 802.11n connections only when using AES security or no security. You should only use no security when setting up or troubleshooting the network.
To enable AES for Personal Security, select WPA-Personal (AES-CCMP) or WPA2-Personal (AES-CCMP) in the Security Settings pulldown menu. To enable AES for Enterprise Security, select AES-CCMP in the Data Encryption pulldown menu.
After the association flow completes, the adapter stays awake (as in CAM mode) for 10 seconds, and then acts according to the PowerIndex (PI) regkey. PI should not be change during this period. The association timeout is 10 seconds. Using the Linksys access point, association occurs every 60 seconds, resulting in deauthentication and disconnection from the Linksys access point.
Intel® My WiFi Technology can operate as a hotspot on channels 1-11 of the 2.4GHz band, channels 36, 40, 44, and 48 in the low 5GHz range, and channels 149, 153, 157, 161, and 165 in the high 5GHz range.
The following message may display: Unable to Connect Invalid Channel.
The computer is currently connected to wireless LAN using a channel that is incompatible with Intel My WiFi Dashboard. To correct this, it is recommended that you change the channel at the access point to match a supported channel listed above.
Another reason for this message may be that this computer and the remote device that you are attempting to connect are both connected to wireless LAN on different channels. You should disconnect your wireless connection and try again.
In some instances a PDA may fail to immediately reconnect to the My WiFi Technology network after the profile security is changed from one security setting to another.
Intel® Smart Connect Technology (iSCT) / NetDetect feature requires the checkboxes on the NCPA Power management tab “Allow this device to wake the computer” and “Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer” to be enabled due to the way that Microsoft implemented the wake function. (To access this tab, open the Device Manager and open Properties for the Intel® wireless adapter. Select the Power Management tab.) Intel® has not implemented support for WoWLAN (Wake over WLAN) in v15.0/15.1 nor is wake via magic packet supported.
This checkboxes on the Power Management tab (described above) do not mean the adapter supports WoWLAN or the platform is able to be configured for WoWLAN feature. Rather the adapter supports Wake Enable. However, the OS enables this check box and allows checking only if the WiFi driver reports it supports WoWLAN.
